Alan Jamieson (1839-1916)Alan Jamieson (1839-1916)

Jamieson founded and developed the dermatology department in Edinburgh, winning first a "small dark room" for outpatients, then an inpatient department. He was later elected president of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. A keen toxophilist, his portrait in the uniform of the Royal Company of Archers hangs in the hall of the College. Jamieson's contribution is described more fully in John Savin's Dermatology in Edinburgh - the First 100 Years
